The Best Saturday Ever!!!

vs vs

Yesterday I got to spend the saturday with my dad at the coolest event ever. It was the 2008 Stadium Shootout at Cardinals Stadium. It was a double header game. First it was the Minnesota Gophers against the Louisville Cardinals. Both teams played an amazing game. In the end the Gophers won 59-54.
Then it was time for the game between good and evil. The BYU cougars against the ASU Sun Devils. I didn't know who I wanted to root for, I was wearing blue jeans and a white shirt and a maroon and yellow undershirt with maroon and yellow eyeshadow but in the end I was for BYU. They played a great game and it came down to the last second. BYU was called the winner but then the refs had to look at a replay and declared ASU as the winner because the ball left the hands of Lee Cummard a second too late. The final score was 75-76.
During halftime they had a band perform. It was a local Gilbert band called Second Skin. To see a video of a performance they did search "Second Skin - What I've Done at Sonoma Elem." on youtube. I was amazed at how young they were.
It was such a great game and I had a great time being with my dad. I wouldn't trade it for the anything.

Today was the funeral for Lorin Merkley. He died of cancer on Tuesday November 18. He was a great friend and an awesome football player. He loved to play the piano and was always there when someone needed him.

The football game last night was devoted to Lorin and the whole football team wore red socks( cuz that was his favorite color) and all of his family and friends wore red to the game. At the beginnning of the game the cheerleaders let go of 62 red balloon and the team retired the #62 jersey. It was a very special night and it was one that I will never forget.

In the funeral program, his mom wrote him a poem and it was titled "Mother To Son". I read it during the closing song and needless to say, I was crying even more than I already was.

Lorin will never be forgotten and he will always have a place in the hearts of those he touched.

Tonight I went and saw "A Thousand Cranes" at the PAC. It was out on by the high school and they were AMAZING. Brandon played the father and I had some friends that were in it too. I got to see friends from high school that I miss seeing like Trevor and Jordon. They are the sweetest guys ever. Hugs from them can heal any pain I feel. I got to go to the cast party with them at Applebee's and I was fun. Jordon wasn't feeling good but he still had a good time. Before we left I gave them the gift I made them which was just a plastic cup with flowers and some hershey kisses. They really liked it and they gave me a hug. I will never forget them and hopefully I will be able to keep in touch with them.

This is from when my family went up to Manti to see the Manti Pageant. Our campsite was right next to the temple. I would be able to look right out the window of our trailer and see the temple. It was gorgeous. I love spending time with my family, especially when we go camping.
